    Data & Results

Frequently asked questions about data access, results interpretation, and data packages

What is included in the data package, and how is the data pre-processed?

Your data package includes all necessary information for a full analysis:

    Included data:

    • Controls: Data for any positive controls (e.g., CD40 mAb) run with your experiment
    • Background Curves: Background curves from reference wells (blanks) are included by default
    • DNA Sequences: The final DNA sequences used for expression can be provided upon request

Data pre-processing: The raw data undergoes some initial correction before you receive it. The instrument software automatically corrects for vertical shifts that occur when sensors move between wells. We also perform a baseline drift correction by subtracting the signal from a zero-concentration reference sample to account for any ligand dissociation or other baseline fluctuations over time.

How can I access my experimental data, including raw data?

Yes, you have full access to all your experimental data through our Foundry Portal. The portal allows you to download a comprehensive results package, which includes not only the final processed data but also all the raw binding curves and sensograms directly from the instrument.

To download this, simply click the arrow next to the ‘Download Data’ button in the portal and select ‘Download additional raw data’. This enables you to perform your own independent analysis if desired.

How do you address data discrepancies or concerns about results?

We take data quality seriously and have established processes to address any concerns:

    Quality assurance:

    • All experiments include appropriate controls and reference standards
    • Data is reviewed by our scientific team before release
    • We provide detailed experimental protocols and conditions with your results

    Addressing concerns:

    • Contact our support team immediately if you have questions about your data
    • We can provide additional technical details about the experimental conditions
    • When warranted, we can repeat specific measurements or provide additional controls
    • Our team will work with you to understand any unexpected results

    Data transparency:

    • Full access to raw data allows independent verification
    • Detailed metadata helps identify potential experimental variables
    • We maintain detailed records of all experimental conditions

    Do you provide example datasets?

Yes, we can provide example datasets to help you understand the format and content of our results packages. These anonymized examples demonstrate:

    • Typical data file structures and formats
    • Examples of strong, medium, and weak binding interactions
    • Quality control metrics and their interpretation
    • How different binding kinetics appear in the data

Contact our team to request example datasets relevant to your specific assay type or protein format.

How do you ensure data quality and handle experimental errors?

We maintain rigorous quality control standards throughout our experimental process:

    Quality control measures:

    • Multiple controls (positive, negative, blank) in every experiment
    • Replicate measurements when sample availability permits
    • Real-time monitoring of instrument performance
    • Standardized protocols and automation to minimize human error

    Error detection:

    • Automated data analysis flags unusual results for manual review
    • Statistical analysis identifies outliers and anomalous data points
    • Cross-referencing with controls helps identify systematic issues

    Error handling:

    • Problematic data points are flagged and explained in results
    • When necessary, experiments are repeated at no additional cost
    • Transparent reporting of any technical issues or limitations

Who owns the intellectual property (IP) and data generated from my experiments?

Data ownership: You retain full ownership of all data generated from your experiments. The results, including processed data and raw measurements, belong entirely to you.

Sequence confidentiality: Your protein sequences and experimental designs remain strictly confidential and are protected under our standard confidentiality agreements.

IP protection: We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your protein designs, sequences, or the insights derived from experimental results.

Data security: All data is stored securely and access is restricted to authorized personnel directly involved in your project.

Publication rights: You are free to publish or patent any discoveries based on the experimental results. We may reference general technical capabilities in our publications but will not disclose specific customer data without explicit permission.
